Ganon (usa) In the Dead of Sleep [2006]

Ganon es de Michigan que toca un sludge metal al estilo “Neurosican” (un término acuñado para connotar música similar al de las 3 bandas consideradas legendarias de la escena del post metal… Neurosis, Isis, Pelican). Ganon lanzó su primer álbum de larga duración llamado ” In the Dead of Sleep ” en 2006. Además de un line-up que consiste en un baterista, bajista y vocalista y tecladista, Ganon utiliza tres guitarristas. El guitarrista Matt dejó la banda tras la grabación de “In the Dead of Sleep”, y Ganon elegir no reemplazarlo. Su segundo larga duración también viene editado por Acerbic Noise Development en 2008 y se titula ¨ As Above, So Below¨. Ganon contiene perceptiblemente todos los elementos atrayentes para cualquier seguidor de Isis o Pelican,todos esos climas Ganon los brinda sólidamente. En la actualidad están trabajando en un 12″ ep para Division Sound.

Cull (usa) Erosion EP [2009]

En la primavera 2007 surgen para traer la ética del riot grrrl y el anarquismo a la escena de metal de Portland. Nacidos de la amistad de hace muchos años y proyectos musicales anteriores, Cull se formo al principio con Dylan, Melissa, y Jacqui cuando unieron sus sus fuerzas y comenzaron a escribir canciones. . Una vez que las canciones comenzaron a tomar forma, Dylan reclutó a su hermano menor, Ansel ,no sólo para solidificar su sonido, sino también consolidar la unión y la dinámica familiar de la banda. Habiendo descartado la postura machista típicamente asociados con el metal, trabajaron para crear activamente un espacio para las mujeres en la música pesada.

Provenientes de Erie, Pennsylvania,Village of Dead Roads está compuesto por Doug Corey (guitarra y voz), Eric Abt (guitarra ) y Chris Williams (batería). Su receta sonora ecléctica combina el doom de Black Sabbath con el metal ambient progresivo de Isis, el industrial grind de Godflesh y lineas adicionales del hardcore. Editan por primera vez en 2005 un split con sus compañeros de sello Meteor City, Spiritu, titulado ¨ Human Failures¨, la visión no convencional de la banda deriva en la atención para lo qu será su primer larga duración ¨ Human Failures¨. En el 2009 editan ¨ Desolation Will Destroy You¨ y desde entonces la banda ha quedado parada por el momento.

Archon (usa) Evocation Demo [2008]

Archon se formó en 2008 por conocidos miembros de la movida doom de NYC, Agnosis, Tides Within, y 12 Eyes. Andrew Jude y Ryan Lynch alistan al baterista Dan Kurfirst de Scribes of Fire para poder llevar su visión doomed. Los veteranos de la escena doom metal crearon un sonido que es único, así como fiel a sus raíces. La combinación de la pesadez épica y groove de Electric Wizard, Sabbath y The Melvins y el doom experimental de Neurosis y Buried at Sea junto con elementos que son únicamente suyos, Archon ha forjado una combinación mortal de aplastante doom metal y atmósferas psicodélicas oscuras. En la primavera de 2008, una grabación debut, ¨ Evocation¨, fue realizada, cuenta de 2 canciones en más de 30 minutos de pura apocalíptico doom y psicodelia. Grabado por Brett Z y mezclado y masterizado por Andrew y Ryan, la grabación también cuenta con el trabajo de guitarras adicionales de Brett y Shane LaPorte. En marzo de 2009, Archon entra al estudio de nuevo a trabajar en el material adicional para su primer álbum completo, que contará con versiones retocadas de las dos pistas de ¨ Evocation¨, junto con nuevas composiciones. El registro aún no tiene título y estará disponible en Norteamérica a través de Dissected Angel Records.

Malasangre (ita) A Bad Trip To… [2002]

Malasangre se formó en el año 2000, con el objetivo de tocar una lenta, sucia y psicodélico música. En un principio no se veía en Malasangre una influencia del metal o tradicional doom metal, ya que parecía más a una banda de HC-punk lenta. Después de un puñado de espectáculos se las arreglaron para entrar al estudio para hacer sus primeras grabaciones que poco después se convirtió en un álbum de larga duración llamado ¨ A bad trip to¨ (Red Sun Records, 2001), cuyo sonido crudo y ahumado se interpone entre Electric Wizard y Nightstick. Desde aquí que sus canciones habían conseguido poco a poco un sonido más primitivo, más oscuro y más pesado. El resultado de esta barbarización es ¨ Inverses¨, un álbum de tres capítulos que vio la luz en 2005 por Nothingness Rec, después de haber tenido algunos problemas con una etiqueta muy conocida holandesa. Después de algunos años de trabajo duro y de aislamiento, Malasangre miró la escena europea doom extrema. Participaron en 2004 en Ashes to Ashes, Doom to Dust fest y comparten escenario con bandas como Moss, Bunkur, Forgotten Tomb, Wormphlegm, Planet AIDS. Otra gran ayuda para difundir su nombre fue el 4-way split (Bunkur, Malasangre, Stabat Mater, The Sad Sun) ¨Church of the Flagellation¨(Catacomb music,2004). Hoy en día, ¨ Revelation CCXXXIX¨ es la canción que mejor se adapta a su sonido: primitivo dark black doom psicodélico.
